Target Population: Head Start serves income eligible (based on 100% of the poverty level according to Section 645 of the Head Start Act) children ages 3, 4, and 5 from the counties of Barnes, Dickey, Eddy, Foster, LaMoure, and Stutsman. The program is currently funded for 198 children.
Application Process: Applications are taken year around (a waiting list is maintained). Applications are available at either site (Jamestown and Valley City) and at various agencies in the counties. Selection is based on criteria including income, ages (4,3,5), referrals, disabilities and other factors. Head Start is required to enroll 90% of the funded enrollment within the poverty guidelines and 10% of funded enrollment with disabilities.
